Structure and Navigation in BauMaster

For basic information about the meaning of buttons, menus and navigation, please read: Navigation and User Guidance.

In BauMaster, everything operates on a "project level".

All functions, such as tasks, records or reports (except contacts) always relate to the selected project.

To ensure that everything you document is automatically assigned to a project, you must first create a project.

Contacts are assigned to projects so that tasks or record entries can be allocated to them.

Steps to the first task/report:

  1. Create project
  2. Create employees (admins)
  3. Create contacts
  4. Upload plan files (to be able to set plan markers)
  5. Create and send tasks
  6. Create and send records

1. Create project - BauMaster | Projects Online Help (bau-master.com)

A "Demo" project with common project settings is already stored. You can copy this and continue working with it immediately.

NotesTo create your own project, select the "Demo" project and copy it. This way, the most important settings are already included!
To learn how to copy or create a new project, read here: Create or copy projects (template project)

2. Create employees (admin function) - BauMaster | Contacts Online Help (bau-master.com)

3. Create contacts - BauMaster | Contacts Online Help (bau-master.com)

In the "Demo" project, your own company is already set up. It appears as "My Company" at the very top and again in the alphabetical list.

In order to assign a tradesperson, for example, in tasks and protocol entries, save the company and person in the contact management.

Expand persons of a company on the right using the triangle. Here you assign yourself to the new project using the slider.

To learn how to create companies and contacts yourself, read the following article: Create and manage contacts

4. Upload plan file - BauMaster | Plans Online Help (bau-master.com)

5. Create and send tasks - BauMaster | Tasks Online Help (bau-master.com)

6. Create and send record - BauMaster | Construction Protocols Online Help (bau-master.com)

The settings for record types can always be found in the project settings, as they are defined there for the entire project!

Other Functions at a Glance

Photo Documentation

Photos form an important part of documentation on construction sites. That's why BauMaster offers an extremely practical and fast photo documentation via two different ways:

  1. Take a photo in a protocol entry or report and attach it to the entry: Create and copy protocol entries
  2. Independently of protocols/reports, take photos via the photo button and save them directly in the project space: Photo storage in the project space

Documents & Plans / Digital Construction File (formerly "Project Space")

All protocols, reports, and photos are automatically saved in the digital project space. Other documents such as plans can be uploaded to a freely selectable folder structure. No matter where you are, you have access from any device to this project space and thus to all important construction documents!» PDF Plans & Plan Versions» Photo storage in the project space» View PDF protocols and reports

Task Overview/ Dashboard

An important point for understanding BauMaster is the intelligent connection of protocol entries with other functions. A protocol entry is provided with deadlines, trades, contacts, and other details.

This creates a dashboard where you get a quick overview of all open appointments and deadlines: To the Dashboard

Construction Schedule

The construction schedule is one of the most important tools in construction project management. BauMaster's construction schedule shows all trades with tasks and timeframes in a clear Gantt view. Dependencies and simple shifts via drag & drop allow for quick changes. How to do this can be read here: Create and manage construction schedule

You have completed all steps for a quick start with BauMaster!

Finally, we would like to introduce two functions that are very useful for fast and smooth work on the construction site:

Construction Diary

With the construction diary, you document the daily events on the construction site as well as companies present and activities. This is done in a very intuitive way.

Read more about it here: Create, copy, send construction diary

Detailed Search / Filtering

Using the global search (across projects), you can search all protocol entries (and later all reports) of all projects in BauMaster for any term. This way, you can find information from years ago within seconds or evaluate defects, costs, trades, completed tasks, e.g., per project. Here's how the Detailed search / Filtering works

Connected Construction

If you want to quickly exchange information with contractors and craftsmen, you can invite this contact to "Connected Construction." The craftsman receives a free invitation by email and, as a so-called "partner user," can view, complete, and add photos to tasks assigned to them. This way, you can work directly on shared project tasks in BauMaster!

To learn how the invitation process works and what partner users can do, read here: Connected Construction / Partner User
