Photos - GPS / Geotagging

Prerequisites

  1. You have a device with GPS functionality
  2. BauMaster has the necessary permissions (location) on your device
  3. You have an Expert license

Note on GPS Coordinate Accuracy

Under unfavorable conditions such as poor geographical conditions, bad weather, unstable internet connection, or older devices, GPS positioning may fail or significant deviations of the geodata from the actual position may occur.

Therefore, please manually verify the location if necessary.

Photos with GPS Coordinates

Unless you have changed the settings on your device, photos you take outside of BauMaster using the camera on your device will always have GPS coordinates stored by your device.

If you want to use this function for photos you take directly through BauMaster, you have two options to activate the GPS function:

  1. You activate the GPS function when prompted (when using the camera for the first time)
  2. Or in "Settings" under the menu item "Camera Settings"(You will only see this menu item if you are on a mobile device. On your PC, you usually do not have this setting.)
You can find the settings in the top right corner by clicking on the profile icon

View Photos in Map View

To view photos on a map, select Map View in the Documents and Plans menu under Photos & Attachments.

This allows you to quickly see where all photos with GPS coordinates were taken.

Switch between preview and map view

You can view, delete, move to another project, or download these photos grouped by location.

Change GPS Coordinates / Position

GPS reception is not always guaranteed with the highest accuracy and can strongly depend on the environment and device, so it is sometimes necessary to adjust the position.

To adjust the capture position of a photo:

1. Click on the photo
2. Switch to "Map View"

3. Click "Edit GPS" and move the map to the desired location and Click "Save"

Manually Add GPS Coordinates to Photos

If photos do not yet have GPS coordinates, the button for switching the preview changes and you can easily add a GPS position manually.

Add GPS coordinate for the first time. Now move the map to the desired position and save.

FAQs

Why are GPS coordinates missing from some photos even though I granted permission?
You may have disabled location services on your device. BauMaster cannot access this information, so it's your responsibility to enable location services.
The GPS coordinates are completely wrong! Can I improve this?
Accuracy can vary significantly depending on your device and environment. For Android, setting GPS accuracy to "High Accuracy" usually helps (Location in Connections > Search Method > High Accuracy).
